The Dallas Cowboys won their fourth straight game of the season Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals by a score of 28-14. The Cowboys shutout the Bengals through the first three quarters as they went up 28-0 at the start of the fourth quarter. Without Dez Bryant, the Cowboys’ offense was able to produce against a quality defense.
The performance of the Cowboys’ defense was the biggest surprise of the game. They shutdown A.J. Green in the game only allowing him to catch four out of eight passes for 50 yards. The Cowboys were able to get a lot of pressure on Andy Dalton sacking him four times while hitting him nine times.
This was by far the best defensive performance of the year by the Cowboys. The return of DeMarcus Lawrence seemed to have a positive impact on the defense as a whole.
The Cowboys’ defense was expected to be one the worst in the league coming into the season, but has given up only 18 points per game so far this season. That is good enough to rank them eighth in the league in that category. The defense needs to keep up their strong play for the Cowboys to continue to have success.
Ezekiel Elliott is the real deal. He had 15 carries for 134 yards and two touchdowns and added three catches for 37 yards. Elliott joins Eric Dickerson and Mike Anderson as the only rookies in NFL history to rush for at least 130 yards in three straight games.
I need to praise the offensive line for the Cowboys. Game in and game out the offensive line proves that they are by far the best in the league. The time they create for the quarterback and the holes they create in the running game is unimaginable.
The Cowboys hope to have Dez Bryant back this Sunday as they travel to Lambeau Field to take on Aaron Rodgers and the 4-1 Green Bay Packers. Another rematch from the controversial no catch call in the 2014 divisional round game between the two teams.
